Space.Personal Space. Needed, not wanted.

Hey folks! Relationships. Everybody has them with family, friends, some may even have them with the opposite sex (or same sex different strokes, for different folks ;oD) but one thing that I find to be a problem whether people realize it or not is the lack of personal space put between them and people they are with. I mean with parents, as soon as we are old enough to know that we don't want to tell them everything and don't want them to know about the porno stash you have collected, or anything you consider private rummaged through, you start to set up boundaries. Well, whether they respect them or not is another topic of conversation, but the main idea never changes, you need a certain amount of personal space to feel comfortable with yourself, with them, and with others. So why is it that when we persue intimate relationships we tend to forget about this and throw caution to the wind. Now before I deal with the sh!tstorm this kind of topic enevitably brings up, lemme get out my umbrella and galoshes and talk to you! I have experienced this distinct lack of personal space in relationships I have been in and I have to tell you it is of the utmost importance that you both understand how important it is to have enough space as a person to be yourself without being crowded. Most people don't take into account that this important aspect of adolesense is what made them who they are or even that the lack of personal space could do the same, but I bet the latter is alot less fun. Don't ever forget that people are not property and that everyone should understand boundaries. If I don't make the space, then by all means make it for me, I will thank you later after realizing how well that that works for me and you. Whenever you think about doing that just remember what happened when your parents tried to encroach and suffocate you with their lack of respect for your personal space and you will know what to do. Till next time: Emotions. CYA!
